Thanks to Museum Galleries Scotland funding we recently completed an amazing project with P6/7 at the Royal School of Dunkeld.

The Workforce for the Future project is aimed at teaching children about the many different jobs within the heritage sector.

Local storyteller, Lindsey Gibb, lead the “Heritage Detectives” eight sessions which included two visits to the Archive to research local characters, and learn about being a museum Curator/Archivist.

The kids concentrated on three “tree related” themes – Macbeth & the Birnam Oak, the 4th “planting” Duke of Atholl, and the Lumbergills of WWII.

The 8th session was an amazing performance by the kids, re-enacting the three topics using the information they learned through research.

The sessions saw them cover being a Tour Guide, a Historical Researcher, an Archivist, a Museum Curator, a Re-enactor, and a Heritage Educator.

Thank to the staff at the Royal School of Dunkeld for working with us on this project.
